A destruição do muro aqueu no canto XII da Ilíada: questões e interpretações

Resumo


Examinando o debate tradicional sobre o sentido e a autenticidade de Ilíada, XII, 1-33, que conta em prolepse externa a destruição do muro aqueu por Apolo e Posêidon, reconsidero as semelhanças com a petrificação da nau dos feácios, anunciada em Odisseia, VIII, 564-71 e descrita em XIII, 125-87, e com a referência de Hesíodo a uma estirpe dos heróis nos Trabalhos e dias, 156-73. Defendendo que o emprego do termo hēmítheoi em Ilíada XII agride o principal critério de distinção entre homens e deuses em Homero, a oposição entre mortalidade e imortalidade, ofereço mais um argumento para a suspeição de que o início do canto XII foi um acréscimo posterior à maior parte da obra.
