O epigrama Sim.21 FGE e a Colunata Colorida

Resumo

No artigo que se segue, pretendo revisitar a controversa questão da transmissão, natureza e função do epigrama 21 fgE, atribuído a Simônides de Ceos, que celebra a vitória dos atenienses sobre o exército persa em Maratona, no ano de 490 a.C. Por meio de uma revisão histórica da crítica pretérita, tanto antiga quanto moderna, é minha intenção defender a hipótese, proposta pela primeira vez por Leake e Goettling, de modo independente, no século XIX, de que o epigrama seria uma inscrição genuína destinada a acompanhar a pintura da referida batalha exposta nos painéis que faziam parte da assim chamada Colunata Colorida (Stoa Poikíl?) em Atenas.
